Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a cake tin.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour and cocoa powder.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in the eggs one at a time.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
