400g pizza dough
150ml tomato sauce
200g mozzarella
15g basil

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven and a pizza stone to its highest setting, typically 245-260°C (475-500°F), for at least 30 minutes.
  2. On a lightly floured surface, stretch the pizza dough with your fingertips to your desired thickness, creating a slightly thicker rim for the crust.
  3. Lightly dust a pizza peel with flour or cornmeal and place the stretched dough on top.
  4. Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
  5. Tear the fresh mozzarella into pieces and scatter them over the sauce. Arrange fresh basil leaves on top.
  6. Carefully slide the pizza from the peel onto the hot pizza stone in the oven. Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
